Pietro Baroni

 




Pietro Baroni was born in Brescia, Italy, in 1966. 

In July 1991, he received the "laurea" degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Brescia, Italy, with a thesis on "development of design management facilities within an electronic CAD system." 

From September 1991 to July 1992 he was at CEFRIEL, where he received the master degree in Information Technology with a thesis on "POIROT: Plot Oriented Instrument for Reasoning On Time".
From October 1992 to July 1993, he was a consultant at the CESI, Milano, Italy, where he was involved in the development of a knowledge-based system for preventive diagnosis of power transformers.

In September 1993, he joined the Dipartimento di Elettronica per l'Automazione (now Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione) of the University of Brescia, Italy, as a "ricercatore" (Assistant Professor) in the Knowledge-Based  Systems and Human-Computer Interaction group.
Since November 2000 he has served as an associate professor of computer science in the same department.
Since November 2006 he serves as a full professor of computer science in the same department.

His main research interests are related to the fields of artificial intelligence and knowledge-based systems and include automated diagnosis, uncertainty representation, approximate reasoning and computational argumentation, autonomous agents and multi-agent systems.

He is author of more than 110 scientific papers.
